In an emergency

If you feel you might be in danger of hurting yourself or someone else, you should call 911 or go to a hospital emergency department right away.

Crisis lines aren’t only for people in crisis.

You can call for information on local services or if you just need someone to talk to. If you are in distress, call 310-6789 (no area code needed) 24  hours a day to connect to a BC crisis line, without a wait or busy signal. The crisis lines linked in through 310-6789 have received advanced training in mental health issues and services by the BC Partners for Mental Health and Addictions Information

Call 1-800-SUICIDE: 1-800-784-2433 if you are thinking about ending your life or are concerned about someone who may be, you can call for help any time of day or night, from anywhere across BC. It’s a free call.

Hope for Wellness: The Hope for Wellness Help Line offers immediate help to all Indigenous peoples across Canada. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to offer counselling and crisis intervention. Call the toll-free Help Line at 1-855-242-3310 or connect to the online chat at hopeforwellness.ca.

Indian Residential Schools Crisis Line: Call 1-866-925-4419. A National Indian Residential School Crisis Line has been set up to provide support for former Residential School students. You can access emotional and crisis referral services by calling 24-Hour National Crisis Line.

Kid’s Help Phone: Call 1-800-668-6868. For kids and teens (ages 20 and under), professional counsellors are available to help, 24 hours a day. It’s free, confidential and anonymous.

KUU-US First Nations Crisis Line: The KUU-US Crisis Line Society operates a 24 hour provincial aboriginal crisis line for Adults/Elders (250-723-4050), Child/Youth (250-723-2040), Toll Free Line (18005888717).

MMIWG Crisis Line (Murdered & Missing Indigenous Women and Girls)Call 1-844-413-6649. A national, toll-free support call line is available to provide support for anyone who requires assistance. This line is available free of charge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Youth in BC Distress Line: Call 604-872-3311 for a 24-hour distress line staffed by counsellors and trained volunteers who are committed to helping youths in crisis.

HealthLink BC Call 811,  24 hours a day or visit www.healthlinkbc.ca to access free, non-emergency health information for anyone in your family, including mental health information. Through 811, you can also speak to a registered nurse about symptoms you’re worried about, or a pharmacist about medication. Call  811 or for deaf or hearing-impaired call: 1 (866) 889-4700
